KK Street Nuisance ~ Part 2

Some more related emails... remember to save this no. into your mobile: 088-318555

Dear Friends, on the way out of my workplace at Wisma Merdeka I often see these foreign kids (a local would recognise their own people so it could not have been the local kids) walking around and following tourists with their hands out begging. My hubby would often slow down his car next to them and will shout at the kids to move away as well as advise the friendly smiling unsuspicious tourists (must be thinking that they are locals = tainting our good reputation) to just ignore them the street kids. But the question is that when would it ever stop when even the wisma Merdeka management who has security guards placed only in the area facing wisma Sabah cant spare theirs to monitor the sorrounding of its building ?

A lot can be done as they seems
to fear uniformed man more but then again, could it be because the uniformed man of this building are actually known to them thus they couldn't be bothered about it? It's not surprising as most of them do not look like local and they speaks their language (I would have known most Sabahan dialects being a native myself). A few times in the early morning, I saw some 'alien' coming out of the building used to be the Gayana jetty. Why is it still there when its not being used anymore ? The structure provides a perfect hiding place for anyone at night. Could the kids and their family staying there in order to make it easier for them to hang around nearby place like wisma Merdeka, Hyatt and Segama?

After reading this email, maybe we should change the venue of Meeting Sheau Cheng from Upperstar to a safer place like Lintas Yoyo. It's really not safe especially we are all girls driving at night time.

I used to have this experience working in STC last time. It was a horrible experience because I needed to park my car to work everyday. When I worked late, I need to ask my male colleague to accompany me. Even 2-3 girls walking in company would not stop them harassing and worst one of the colleagues new car was smashed and another female colleague was threaten that she will be raped when seeing her running to her car ignoring them.

Guys, the police hotline number is 088 318555. Keep it handy.

Some useful info. from DR. Helen Lasimbang

KK Street Nuisance ~ Be Wary

I received an email from my cuz and would like to share with whoever is reading this. It's about the nuisance caused by the illegal immigrants happening at KK street. This is very sad/scary as we have also experienced quite similar incident!

Subject: Re: Problems in the streets in KK

I have received a forwarded email a few weeks ago, about Pauline Chin's experience, who is from Sabah Tourism.

Since my sister in-law, Elaine Foster, had bad experiences with immigrants on the streets in KK, here's her story(below).

My uncle, husband and I had also experienced the same thing. One time we parked our car near Upperstar area, and a group of kids and a teenager was following us and after we got into the car, two of the kids were trying to open our car doors.

It was scary especially if I was alone that time! We think that Sabah Tourism or the government should seriously do something about these problems. We must stop them from bugging us and the tourists in the streets, before something bad happens one of these days. Please read the attached email below.

Avril,
Please send this to anyone you think may benefit or who can do something to help Sabah Tourism and the City of KK need to seriously do something about the mess around the Hyatt (Shenanigans) and Upper Star. After reading the email about the two 'immigrants' who opened up your car door I feel i should relay my own personal story. On two separate occasions I visited the the Upper Star area and parked my car and both occassions there have been children hanging out there, from the ages of about 5 to 13. They stand around sniffing glue and harrass passers by. They particularily prey on women and tourists.
On both occassions as I was walking back to my car with another girl friend we were surorunded and followed to our car. When we refused to give them money they flashed us. When we got into the car they proceeded to lean against the window and rub their naked parts on my window. It was disgusting and frightening.

The next time, almost a year to the day, again I was parked down there (where else to park?) and again the boys followed us to the car. Except this time they tried to get in the back seat and while my friend ran to chase them off another young one try to grab her purse that had fallen in all the chaos. We were both very shaken.

I went to the Wine Bar later and complained and they seemd to laugh it off. How can they expect to make business there if it is not safe for their customers.

I watched from the balconey as the boys continued to harrass other tourists next to the Hyatt. Is this how Sabah Tourism wants to show Sabah? It is a scandal that nothing is being done to clean up the area, especially one that is visited by many foreigners and visitors to the city. It is embarrassing that KK city doesn't seem to be doing anything and there was even a story in the newspaper the very next day about the mayor or whomever congratulating himself for cleaning up the city, that the city was officially a safer place due to some action or other. Well, I have not seen any difference.

One other incident occurred in broad daylight next to the water front area, across from Marina Court Apartments. I was walking on the sea side, after the market, when a group of young boys approached me and asked for money. When I said no they began to grab me inappropriately and again flashed me.

I slapped one very hard trying to scare them and walked hurriedly to the road.

They then began to throw rocks at me. In broad daylight! And nobody stopped to help me and nobody came to my rescue. I was extremely shaken and scared.

Sabah Tourism and the city of KK (governement and local businessess) MUST
act on these complaints. How can the city be a major tourist attraction for Sabah if this is what it welcomes it's visitors with. Time to act and do something about it instead of pretending the problem does not exist.

Dear friends,

My girlfriend and I was driving along the Centre Point way (Public Bank side) heading out towards Promenade hotel on our way home. We had to stop at the traffic light. To our left was the construction site of the new shopping complex and to our right Le meridien hotel.

A group of immigrant looking men pass by our car, and try to open the backdoor of our car. Thank God we locked the car. It was about 10 ish at night.

Having experienced this myself, I would like to urge you to immediately lock your car door once you are inside your car, as a safety precaution.

Stay safe.

Meteor strike BH?

I went to JPJ at Beverly Hills, Penampang to renew my license.. hehehe... it had been expired since Jan this year and I was still driving around! Phew! I was lucky didnt get caught.. only to find out about it last Sunday! hahaha!

Anyways, went there around 3pm, looked for parking and guess what!! There was a BIG.. and I meant it.. a gigantic hole on the road inside the JPJ compound at the parking area.... OMG! .. JPJ stands for Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan... so, I thought things esp at their own area should be taken care of.. What ever happened there?? Nevermind.... so I drove into the parking area... and there were FEW MORE holes on the road itself... seemed that JPJ was struck by meteor or what??? What a pity! WHy cant they maintain the roads IN THEIR OWN COMPOUND???

Went into the building, as usual crowed with people. I went to the 2nd floor to the Bahagian Pembaharuan Lesen, took my number, it was 6278 and waited. There were few counters open, while an elder lady behind one of the counter was on the phone. 2 men and myself were waiting.

"Ting Tong, #6-2-7-7" ... waited ... waited ... waited ... no one came forward. I thought my turn would be soon, but the lady (a younger one) who rang that bell kept waiting for a ghost to came forward. I almost waited for a minute or so for that!!! What could just happened? Imagine, the 2 other men probably waiting for something else... or they would have came forward... but the lady waited .. and waited ... and waited ..

"Ting Tong, #6-2-7-8" Ahah, at last! my turned! So, while waiting for my license to be processed, I overheard the elder lady (that I mentioned earlier) was chatting on the phone... Dunno lah, like mengumpat about some other ladies..... What a waste of time, she could have buzz the #6278 when the younger one did the #6277, rather than wasting time on the phone (also waste of JPJ's $$ for the bill...)...

huh!

"Bukan sia yang packing!"

I was at one of the local deli in Luyang last night, wanted to buy bread for tommorow's breakfast. As I was selecting the loaves, I noticed that there was water evaporated inside every packaging. So I asked the shop assistant,

Me: "Napa semua packaging ni macam ada wap?"

SA: (proudly) "Sebab kami bungkus dia time dia masih panas lagi!"

Me: "Tapi kalau gini, cepat rosak la ni bread.. nanti ada kulat lah.."

SA: "Bukan sia yang packing!!" (She answered me quickly to defend herself)

Me: "Yalah, tapi mungkin kamu boleh inform boss kamu la, sebab bread yang kami selalu beli dari sini cepat rosak"

SA: "Tapi bukan sia yang packing!! Lainkali, kamu bawa tu bread balik sini lah!!"

Me: (What the..!!) "Bah, bulih bah!"

I then ignored her because I dont want to bark at a barking dog! Nasib it happened after my yoga session, so I was tired & hungry to argue (It was already almost 10pm, and my last meal was noon).. Some people are just so rude, customer service in this place is terrible! Kalau gini la the services, mana boleh maju!!!

Then I went to pay at the counter, I saw this cute lil kid sang, "Buy 2 cake, get 1 free." So, I asked the cashier if its true, she said, "Yah, beli 2 dapat 1 free." Apalagi, I went to take 4 muffins and 2 danish bread, that made it 6 items.. so meaning I'd get 2 free. Went to the counter to pay, the cashier told me that the free cakes are only if the pricing are the same. SIgh! (I didnt wanna change the selected normal price item coz of 'water face' hehehe... silly!) So, I only got 1 free muffin while the rest were atnormal price...!!??

Well, my FIL still buys bread there coz that is the only deli that sells sugar-free edible bread..... tsk..tsk..tsk.. as long as I dont have to go there again..

Above the Influence

Found this site while browsing the American Idol site. Well, I am the kind of person who loves motivational stuffs like this....

Check it out, How Influence R U?
Being above the influence, is about being yourself - and not letting people you into being less than you. Feeling pressure to drink, get high, have sex, or starve yourself just because you think you'll fit in better than you do - that's negative influence. It comes from the media, our friends and even people we dont know who subtly tell us what we should do.

You have the power to reject the negative influences that can bring you down. Being above the influence means seeing these influences for what they are, and making choices based on what's best for you. It's also about having positive influences in your life and knowing that you can be a positive influence on other people.

Cool eh? Anyways, some people think stuffs like this kinda boring! *^* That's cool to me, everyone has one's own ideas & preferences..... I agree with Yasmin, the storyteller has to say about coolness.. ;)

CyberSense & NonSense

It's soooo irritating to receive spam emails... isn't it? My hotmail, which only have like 2MB space, will be clotted with spams everyday.. If I dont empty them, it'll cause a lot of bounced emails.. (Dont ask me why didnt I terminate the hotmail service as yet...)

ANyways, I found this interesting site on the net at Media Awareness Network. Tho it's targeted more towards kids, but I think a lot of us adults too kinda take the Internet Security for granted.. As simple as winning a contest online..?? or by filling in Quizzes.. hoping for a reward afterwards..?? Well, I believed my spams came from the forms that I filled in loong time ago. And there's another tricks on SPAMS.. is that, there'd be a clause saying "IF YOU WANNA UNSUBSCRIBE, PLEASE REPLY TO THIS EMAIL" which I think its a total HOAX! Once you click unsubscribe, then whoever sent you those emails know that your email account is active.. so they'll keep sending you rubbish!

so, do check the site out!
